About Chris
Chris discovered a love for content creation around the age of 11 while taking a video production class offered as an extracurricular class while in middle school. While in high school, Chris and several classmates continued to take their short film style videos to the next level and save up allowance along with excess chores to purchase their first DSLR cameras. With the rise of Instagram and social media, Chris and his classmates discovered long exposure photography and specifically, astrophotography.
By 16, with no driver’s license and a tight curfew, Chris and friends would walk around the suburban neighborhoods of the Bay Area in California attempting to find the darkest skies they could, usually finding themselves at the base of Mt. Diablo State Park in Clayton and giving their best shot at capturing the light of the Milky Way galaxy in the very light polluted skies of the Bay Area.
In 2017, with friends heading off to college, Chris and co. decided it was time for “one more hurrah” and create a short film documentary based around their new found love of astrophotography. Interviewing Blazing Heavens founder Derek Culver for the short film would only inspire them to get out under the stars more frequently and under darker skies.
Over the next several years, Derek served as a great friend and mentor, passing along his masterclass editing and teaching in the field. Chris has worked his way to being a guest instructor with Blazing Heavens workshops. You can see their available workshops here.
